Little shop and the dreaded flu!

First off I apologise for the lack of posts recently, I've been really busy over the Jubilee weekend and am now pretty ill with some sort of cold/flu type thing. Its actually driving me mad now, I hate being ill! I hope everyone else is well and had a good weekend/long weekend if you're in the UK! I celebrated the Jubilee first at a dinner party on Saturday night and then me and boyfriend did a massive BBQ for his family which was nice. Yesterday was my sister's 21st, unfortunately we were both pretty ill and spent most of the day on the sofa watching dvds, I had to go to Bristol in the morning for some work training, I'm an ambassador for my university so in a couple of weeks i'll be doing a summer school, which will be good but having to travel yesterday feeling like death warmed up was not fun! Anyway my sister had a good day regardless and didn't seem too disappointed that she spent the day inside with the tissues so thats alright. Anyway last week I did a bit of shopping so I thought I show you a couple of bits I got. Nothing amazing but I just wanted to write a post.

The gemini necklace was one of my sister's birthday presents, I found it in Topshop and really liked it, its simple but cute and also it doesn't look horribly cheap like some of the jewellery in there, it was £7 which isn't too bad and the chain is a good length, I hate it when they are really short! My sister liked it which is good!

The nail varnish was from Urban Outfitters and was £6, so a similar price to the Topshop polishes, i'm undecided about whether I like this or not to be honest. Its called 'Twinkie' and its a clear polish with tons of holographic glitter in and pastel pink and turquoise stars. It looks so pretty in the packaging which is what made me buy it but actually getting the stars out and on to your nails is a bit of a mission! They don't stick well to the brush so I have a feeling that the more I use it the more i'll just end up with a load of stars at the bottom of the jar which is disappointing! However it does look lovely over pastel lilac nail polishes! Oh you will need a good topcoat over this one, otherwise the stars will disappear within a couple of hours!

Okay now i'm a bit ring mad to be honest, and I should probably stop buying them, however I couldn't resist this one! Yes its huge as you can see from the below photo.

However I love it! It was £2.99 from H&M, absolute bargain if you ask me, it feels weighty, not cheap and the stone is set nicely and doesn't sound hollow or loose if you tap it. I love the detail on the silver (e.g. some kind of metal that looks silver) as well. I've worn it a lot already so i'm really happy with that!

So thats just a couple of bits i've purchased recently, I will hopefully be feeling better soon so I can post more, me and boyfriend are meant to be going to Brighton this weekend if i'm better so i'll hopefully get some photos and maybe do a bit of shopping so I can post about that! I'm pretty excited to go to the lanes to shop and to try some of the vegetarian restuarants there! If anyone has any suggestions of where we should go let me know! Hope everyone is having a good day, ooh and remember to enter my giveaway if you haven't already!

Little shopping trip...

So for some reason I thought I was working today, went in for 8am turns out I wasn't...cue awkwardness...anyway because I was already out I decided to go and do a bit of early morning shopping as I got paid a couple of days ago. I picked up a few bits, no make-up items today thought I should restrain myself!

Anyway I've been wanting a skater style dress for a while, because they look nice and are flattering to pretty much all body shapes, which is good as dresses aren't something I always like wearing. So i'd seen a plain black one in Topshop a while ago but it was £15 and I thought that was a tad over-priced. I'm glad I didn't get it because today in H&M I found this one which was only £7.99!

Not the best photo but its just plain black and the back drops slightly lower which is quite nice (not so low as to reveal bra though so that's a plus!). So I'm happy with that.

I also got this belt from Accessorize, mostly because I love teal, i'm not entirely sure about the star cutouts but I can live with them. It was £8, but I like Accessorize belts because their sizes tend to be better for me than other shops.

These are by far my favourite purchase of the day, little owl stud earrings from River Island for £1.50! I thought that was a pretty good deal, I believe River Island are now doing a £5 and under jewellery range, I saw some of it today in store and a lot of it is actually really nice. I was pretty impressed because a lot of their normal range is quite expensive for what it is. Well I think so anyway.

I think they are quite cute, they're kind of a bronze colour with pale blue in the eye and they aren't massive either which I like, because I don't really like big studs on myself.

The last thing is a pair of shoe boots from New Look but I got these over the Easter break. They were £19.99 but I got student discount so I paid £17.99 for them which isn't bad for a pair of shoes, they're faux suade I think (don't hold me too that!). But they are really comfortable surprisingly, I'm not great with high heels for more than a couple of hours but I definitely think I could wear these for an evening and not want to take them off half way through.

They're just plain black but up the back there's a zip which I think looks quite nice, a bit different from a zip up the inside. So that's my little shopping spree, the rest of the day has just been spent revising, but its not going too badly thankfully! Hope everyone is having a good day.

Rings

I love rings, they are probably my favourite type of jewellery as its easy to wear and you can change the feel of an outfit just by which rings you are wearing. I'm a magpie in stores or stalls that sell rings, I make a swift beeline for them. So these are just some photos of some of mine, these are one's I wear often, everday basis. I do have other but most are currently at my parents house as I didn't feel like I would need to accessorize for my uni exams and needed to not bring too much stuff back with me. Although I feel like I came back with more stuff than I had before...its a good job i'm not moving house again this Summer! Anyway onto the photos.

The two patterned silver rings in this pic are from H&M they were part of a ten ring set which was £2.99! Bargain I thought, there's 6 patterned ones and four just plain silver but I like that. The turquoise stone ring (which I love sooo much) is from LLY MLRS shop and it was £4, pretty good I think as you'd probably pay about £8 in Accessorize for something like that, also super fast delivery for this, I ordered it late afternoon and it arrived the next day, very impressed!

These two I wear everyday and have done for years. They are both silver, the star ring was from a stall at the Sidmouth Folk Festival about ten years ago now and it was £2, for those that don't know every year in Sidmouth, Devon there is a Folk Festival, its basically tons of little stalls selling jewellery, clothes, decorative items, and loads of other things, plus live music, dance and a lot of cider! But its great for finding quirky little gifts and knick-knacks. The hammered silver ring was a Christmas present from my boyfriend two years ago, it was part of the Paloma Picasso collection for Tiffany & Co and I believe it was around the £70-80 price mark, me and boyfriend do tend to go a little overboard on the gifts. I love it, its very me, he got it right with this one. There hasn't been a day that I haven't worn it since I got. Its really subtle but I really like it. I don't think Tiffany actually sell this anymore, there is a rose gold and yellow gold version but they are obviously much more expensive.

Now this ring I have had for years again and it was bought from the Devon County Show from a trader and I think it was about £4. Now this isn't the best photo of it, I couldn't get my ancient camera to truely capture it well, but this ring is amazing. The stone/resin (i'm not sure what its made from) looks like a galaxy, its so pretty and changes with the light from being the purpley colour to being a turquoise/green colour. I love it so much and yes it does look a little bit like those mood rings everyone used to have (mine always stayed that horrible dark brown colour!) but I don't care I've never seen anything similar to this is shops and I like that its a bit different. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye out for more like this!

Does anyone else love rings as much as me?
